CONTEST RULES
The rules for COYOTE IDOL 3, 2009 and a list of the prizes will be posted on the board at the front of Coyote’s. A printed copy of the rules is available upon request.
Rule #1
Three impartial judges of which will judge contestants.
- Cannot be a relative or personal friend of any contestant.
- Cannot be an employee of Coyote’s Bar & Grill.
- The Karaoke DJ or the owners of Coyote’s Bar & Grill.
Rule #2
- A drawing will be held to determine the order of performance. The Karaoke DJ and or the assistant will do the drawing. Entry numbers will be called in the order of which they are drawn.
- There will be four preliminary rounds lasting four weeks.
- The two highest scoring contestants every week will advance to the semi-finals on Oct. 29th.
- The 3 highest scoring contestants of that round will then compete in the finals on Oct. 29th for the title of COYOTE IDOL 3.
- Check in will start at 8:00 PM, Warm-ups will be allowed beginning at 9:00 PM and will be on a first come first serve basis.
- The host, KJ reserves the right to declare the maximum amount of contestants and close registration at any reasonable point in the night.
- The contest will start at 10:00 PM sharp so be ready to perform when the host calls your number. There will be no further registrations for the night after contest has started.
- You can enter once a week for 4 weeks or until you win a night. Once you win, you cannot compete until the semi-finals.
Rule #3
Each contestant shall be judged in the following categories with a possible total of 50 points.
- Showmanship 1---10-(Entertainment ability)
- Vocal Ability 1 ---25-(voice and tone quality)
- Song Delivery 1---10-(Execution of the song)
- Audience participation 1---5-(crowd involvement and reaction)
RULE #4
Each contestant shall use only the equipment and songs provided by the DJ running the show. NO out side equipment by contestant or anyone other than the DJ shall be used. If there is a selection that coyote’s doesn’t have then you may provide it by 8:00 PM the day of the contest.
RULE #5
- Each contestant must remain on the stage and face the audience during the entire performance and judging. The use of props is not permitted. This is Karaoke; it is just you and the microphone.
- Any contestant that faces the dreaded malfunction of the equipment has the option of starting over. Examples: feed back, skipping of disk, loss of microphone. This does not include the contestant bumping into the equipment causing a skip or turning off microphone while singing. If it is judged that the contestant purposely cased a malfunction of the equipment. This is grounds for disqualification.
- Any contestant found damaging equipment shall be disqualified.
RULE #6
- Any contestant that allows others to sing along with him/her by surrendering the microphone shall be disqualified. (This DOES NOT include holding the microphone in the air for the audience or a group in the audience to sing along with the background vocals.)
- This is a fun contest. No vulgar language, lyrics or gestures will be permitted.
- You must be present for the announcement of the nightly winners. Any contestant not present will be disqualified.
RULE #7
- Any contestant guilty of distracting any of the other contestants while they are performing shall be disqualified.
- Any contestant guilty of insulting or starting any confrontation with any of the audience or other contestants shall be disqualified.
RULE #8 - MOST IMPORTANT
All contestants must do their best while performing; also they must do their best to have a great time. Contestants that do not adhere to this rule shall be subject to going home grumpy
